Artist's Talk - Hugh Gillan

Artist's Talk - Hugh Gillan

By WDC, Creative Learning

Overview

We are delighted to welcome Bankie artist Hugh Gillan to talk about what inspires him and how he creates his beautiful work.

We are pleased to invite artist Hugh Gillan to talk about his work and what has shaped it.

Hugh's work is primarily concerned with his surroundings; the city in which he lives and the places which he visits. These are often liminal spaces populated with objects of modern technology such as pylons, cables, bridges and roads.

Hugh often returns to Clydebank for inspiration. His works has explored the Erskine Bridge and the fleeting moments when the effects of weather can ransform the structure. He captures the world around him and produces tender portraits of his family.

Hugh grew up in Clydebank, attended Clydebank College then went onto study Fine Art Painting at Glasgow School of Art. He has exhibited at the Scottish Landscape Awards, the Derwent Art Prize and the Royal Scottish Academy.

This event is part of our Create It Clydebank programme which is supported by Museums Galleries Scotland. it is free but ticketed.

Our venue is accessible but please do get in touch if you have any specific needs.
