Artists Willow Charcoal Making at the Award Winning Nant-y-Bedd Garden
Event Information
About this Event
Learn to make your own artist's charcoal over the firepit from willow grown and coppiced at the magical, award winning Nant-y-Bedd garden in the Brecon Beacon's. You will have the opportunity to make small batches of your own charcoal for drawing with and also learn how to turn some of your results into ink. We will also spend time exploring some other plant based inks to paint with and a variety of hand-made, natural mark-making materials.
The area in which we will spend the day, Fforest Coalpit has a long association with charcoal burning and you will have the opportunity to learn about some of it's history. Expect experiments in mark-making, texture exploring and a restorative, creative day surrounded by the beauty & tranquility of Nant-y-Bedd, the Garden in the Forest.
The cost of the course includes all materials, delicious, seasonal organic lunch, tea & cake.
Weather permitting we will be spending as much of the day outside as possible. Please bring suitable clothing, a waterproof sit mat and sturdy footware.
