Bio
Olga Tasanko is a doctoral researcher at Aalto University, Finland. She is part of the Artpreneurship Research Group and works on a co-research project, Luova Lämpiö (2024–2025). Olga holds a Master of Arts in Musicology, with minors in Film and Television Studies and Computer Science (University of Helsinki), and a Master of Arts in Sound in New Media, with a minor in Game Design and Production (Aalto University).
Olga began exploring artpreneurship research when she joined the Future Artpreneurship project (2021–2022) as a research assistant in 2022. She met her now supervisor, Professor Anniina Suominen, and what started as an assistantship developed into doctoral research when they secured funding for Luova Lämpiö in 2023. Olga's article-based doctoral thesis explores ethical and sustainable livelihoods in creative professions, focusing on artpreneurial partnerships. Currently, Olga is visiting Anglia Ruskin University to gather data for her second paper.
Abstract
This presentation provides an overview of Olga's ongoing doctoral research on novel artpreneurship collaboration solutions, developed through an artpreneurship-oriented co-research project, Luova Lämpiö (2024–2025). The core motivation for the doctoral thesis is to develop methods and frameworks to support more sustainable livelihoods for creative professionals. The presentation will contextualise Olga's positioning and background in relation to her research before introducing the Artpreneurship and the ongoing Luova Lämpiö research projects.
The research is positioned in the emerging field of Artpreneurship, an umbrella term for various interdisciplinary research foci that share the same connective elements by bringing art, business, and research together through artpreneurial thinking. Olga's work focuses on sustainable livelihoods for creative professionals, on identifying methods and artpreneurial frameworks, and on establishing new knowledge on Artpreneurship with the aim of identifying best practices that support artpreneurial thinking. She also looks at novel solutions from the perspective of audio-related professions and the adaptability of these methods to new media, integrating perspectives from sound studies, musicology, and game studies.
This presentation invites interdisciplinary dialogue to refine Olga's research approach and uncover perspectives that broaden our understanding of sustainable livelihoods for creative professionals, and on the concept of artpreneurial mindset.
