Event description

Description

This Think-In will bring together disabled artists, arts organisations, and others who would like to share knowledge about how we can all help to create better opportunities for disabled people as artists, participants or audiences.

Most cultural organisations are now actively trying to include disabled people as artists, participants and audiences. How can we ensure that we reach not only those who are more confident and articulate? How can we open up our programmes to a wider range of people who might not feel able to break into mainstream arts organisations or access funding because of their disabilities? How can we ensure we’re not just ticking the box?

Adam Gent, Senior Relationship Manager for Arts Council England will talk about the Arts Council's work on inclusion, Daniel Buckroyd, Artistic & Executive Director of Exeter Northcott Theatre will share experiences of running a venue with an active outreach programme.

During the event, internationally-known disabled artists Sue Austin and Mark Ware will share their experiences, we will hear from expert panel members and learn about projects including RAMMbingo – a partnership with RAMM, CEDA, Magic Carpet and Pelican Project.
