Event description
Arts Emergency is a charity and national support network for young people who don’t have influential contacts of their own.

About this Event

We're looking for volunteers based in London, Manchester or Merseyside who can mentor a young person from January 2021.

Please note: Our London training spots and waiting lists are fully booked. Please join our network for updates of any mentor training spaces that open up.

Mentor training

We'll cover what to expect from the programme, keeping young people safe and the best ways to work with a new mentee. Training sessions this year will run on Zoom, they’ll last approximately 2 hours and we’ll share information digitally with you before and after.

By completing this registration you are applying to be an Arts Emergency mentor. Once you have filled out the form we will send you the Zoom invitation for the online training session and we will also add you to the Arts Emergency Network if you aren’t already signed up.

Please note that training places are limited, so if you can no longer attend let us know so that someone else can come.

Important dates

  • Sept / Oct 2020: Mentors attend a training session.
  • Oct / Nov 2020: Arts Emergency recruits young people.
  • Nov 2020: Mentor pairs are matched.
  • Jan 2021: Mentor pairs are introduced.

If you are allocated a mentee, you will be asked to undergo an enhanced DBS check (paid for by Arts Emergency) and we will carry out a character reference.

Mentor pairs meet once a month for about an hour. Dependent on social distancing measures, meetings may take place in person or by phone or video chat. We will review guidance for this in the training session.

Mentor matching

To make the best possible match for each young person we train slightly more mentors per mentee. If you are not matched in 2021, we will get in touch with other ways for you to support young people through Arts Emergency. We will also contact you if we do find a suitable match later in the year or when we next recruit young people.

You can read more information about the mentoring programme on our website.

Privacy note

The information collected in this form will be used to register you for training, to help us find a suitable student match, and to contact you about your participation in the mentoring programme. We will keep hold of it to make the matching process easier in the future, but if you decide not to go forward with mentoring for Arts Emergency just let us know and we will remove it.

If you have any questions or if there is anything we can do anything to make the training process more accessible for you please contact our team via
