BBC Arts Hour on Tour in Amsterdam

Join the BBC for a very special, Amsterdam based recording of its world-renowned radio programme, The Arts Hour on Tour.

The BBC’s Nikki Bedi will be on stage at the Tobacco Theatre to hear how about how artists, writers and film-makers are reflecting life in the fast changing and increasingly multicultural city. Nikki will be hearing about how the Dutch aesthetic has made a global impact and asking whether Amsterdam, with its international reputation as a liberal city, has been affected by the rise of the political right in The Netherlands.

Nikki will be joined on stage by writer Herman Koch, author of the international hit The Dinner, film director Martin Koolhoven whose first English language film, the Western Brimstone, captivated audiences and architect Ellen van Loon, whose ground breaking work has exported the Dutch aesthetic to the rest of the world.

There will be comedy from star of the Dutch stand-up circuit Said El Hassnaoui,

and live music from Amsterdam popular band MY BABY and singer songwriter Shishani who draws on her Dutch, Belgian and Namibian roots to create her unique sound.
