SPOTLIGHT ON: ARTS AND SOCIAL CHANGE
A chance to explore the use of the arts to stimulate debate, change hearts and minds, and act as weapons in the campaign armoury.
A panel of artists will kick off by giving brief examples of their own work in this field. There will be plenty of opportunity for questions, discussion, tea, cake and informal networking. Collective Encounters - One of the UK's leading lights in the field of theatre for social change through collaborative practice including workshops, performance and research.
Natasha Boojihawon - Co-Director of Union Street Media Arts, a Manchester based social enterprise that works at a grassroots level utilising the power of film and digital arts to raise awareness of critical issues facing our people and planet.
Nikki Mailer - internationally experienced community arts practitioner creating work led by people and relationships.
Hafsah Bashir - respected poet and writer whose work often addresses conflict and resistance, on both personal and global levels.
(Nikki & Hafsah are currently collaborating on 'Platform for Palestinian Arts'.)
