Event description

Description

This free event is an opportunity to hear about creative learning approaches and how schools have incorporated them effectively. We'll also be identifying creative skills we can share, networking, hearing about new work experience initiatives and contributing to a consultation on celebrating teachers and learning across the city.

Food and drinks will be provided.

ArtsMark and Arts Award
Jane Dickson, Schools Liaison Manager, Artswork

Schools in Brighton have an incredible reputation for creativity and Artsmark is a great opportunity to demonstrate and recognise this in your setting. Awarded by Arts Council England, Artsmark helps schools to deliver a high quality arts and cultural education. Join the growing, supportive community of Artsmark schools in the city or come along with questions to reinvigorate the award in your school. Hear from two of the city’s Artsmark schools and how they have incorporated the Artsmark framework into their provision and the impact that creative approaches have had for their pupils and students.

Arts Award inspires young people between the ages of 5 and 25years to grow their arts and leadership talents: it’s creative, valuable and accessible. Find out more about the award, how you can use it in your school and hear from schools who are already using Arts Award with their pupils and students.

Creative Skills Swap
Jane Dickson, Schools Liaison Manager, Artswork and Bec Britain, Project Manager, Our Future City

Teachers in the city want to work together, share skills and opportunities, develop creative, practical ideas and find partners. What strengths have you developed in your practice? Where would you like to develop capacity in your school? Come along, join the conversation and discuss how we can all work together to widen creative opportunities for our children.

Creative Industries Work Experience
Bec Britain, Project Manager, Our Future City

Arts organisations are collaborating in a work experience pilot this summer. We'll be exploring how a school work experience week could be delivered by clusters of organisations to diversify the experience for students and increase the capacity to offer places. We'll be sharing how the pilot is developing and some ambitions for the future.

Celebrating Learning in Brighton and Hove
Hilary Ferries, Senior Adviser, Education Partnerships at Brighton & Hove City Council

The Brighton & Hove Education Partnership has as one of its priorities the recruitment, retention and celebration of staff. How best can we celebrate and recognise the fantastic teaching and learning in the city?
