This event is part of the Cambridgeshire Festival of Education

You are cordially invited to attend Artsmeet presented by MyCambridge a partnership of organisations and individuals committed to ensuring that all young people feel part of the rich variety of culture in Cambridge.

The partners are Cambridge City Council, Cambridge Arts & Cultural Leaders, Cambridge Junction, Children and Young People's Participation Service (ChYPPS), Festival Bridge, Kite Teaching School Alliance, NIE Theatre, University of Cambridge Museums.

This meeting of arts teachers is an opportunity to Celebrate, Create and Champion your subject, accompanied by a celebration of Artsmark, the agenda includes:

4:00 Welcome by Kay Blayney (meeting chair)

4:15 Bite size presentations of Arts Projects within schools:

  • Sheila Ceccarelli, Co-founder and Director, AccessArt
    Arts and Minds an 'early intervention project', working with teenagers at Cambourne Village College using creative sessions to improve wellbeing, resilience and creative entitlement

  • Beth Chapman, Arts Co-ordinator, Spring Common Academy
    A bespoke partnership project with Cambridge Junction, ‘The Magnificent Imagination Club’, at Spring Common Academy worked with young people in Years 10 & 11 as co-collaborators to enable them to devise, film and make their own short film. The work was designed to specifically help support the school with their Artsmark process.

  • Hilary Cox-Condon, Project Co-ordinator, ACTIVATE with Coleridge School
    ACTIVATE, a multi-partnership project, is designed to support Cambridge City Council’s anti-poverty strategy, specifically ‘supporting the educational achievement and aspirations of children from low income families’. ACTIVATE works with young people from years 7 & 8 at Coleridge School to provide consistent, high quality, progression based arts and cultural activity over a two year period

5:00 Agency vs. the Arts: Fostering Creative art teacher’s agency and autonomy

A Collaborative workshop led by Kay Blayney & Paul Bourne -
This creative arts session refocuses our attention on the creative arts teachers – their voices, their learning and their achievements. Whilst recognising the pressure of ‘the other curriculum’ and the accountability agenda. CELEBRATE, CREATE & CHAMPION your subject… and reclaim agency.

6:00 Food and refreshments

We'll be joined by children who will be presenting the Artsmark Celebration and their parents.

6:45 Artsmark Celebration

An evening of performance recognising and celebrating schools at every stage of their Artsmark journey.

With performances from Artsmark levelled schools, plus a youth film & unique collaborative performance.

Speakers to include: Sarah Edwards from Cavalry Primary School and Becky Demmen, a Gold Arts Award holder.
