5 weeks from 7 Oct - 11 Nov (with 28 Oct off for Half Term)
@ Greenwich West Community and Arts Centre
A compact yet fully packed intro to modern art history for students of all ages and levels. Together we’ll look at and interpret at some of the most ground-breaking artworks of the 19th and 20th C - some known, some obscure - mapped against the exciting technological, historical and political changes that defined this exciting century. A lively, engaging and fun course to wet the appetite for modern and contemporary art, whilst also giving a voice to some of the artists and works that have been overlooked in the art history books.
Students will be taken on a journey from the mid 19th Century in Paris right through to 1940s America. There will be an introduction to prominent art movements and the artists at the forefront of these all set within the turbulent political and social changes at the time in Europe, Russia and America.
