ArtyParti presents 'Sunderland Scratch #4' - bringing together scriptwriters, screenwriters, & performers to test out scripts in progress.
Now onto our fourth scratch event, we were keen to see regular scratch nights make a return to Sunderland, and we've seen the invaluable insight events like these can offer to writers on their work in progress. Come and join us to help keep scratch nights like this thriving!
For Writers:
An opportunity to hear your writing read aloud (script in hand), and receive feedback on your scripts in progess. We're looking specifically for scripts for theatre, screen, and audio - for poets or spoken-word, we would recommend looking at Sunderland's monthly poetry & spoken-word night "King Ink".
Due to timings, writers' tickets are limited to 5 writers - this will allow us to work through everyone's scripts on the evening.
Writers, please send your work / extracts to JaySykesMedia@gmail.com before Friday 13th June 2025, so that we can share your script with our performers to read in advance. Please limit your work to 10 pages of dialogue, or timed to be read out within 15-minutes. If you are submitting a collection of works, please limit these to 2 (again, totalling under 10 pages or 15 minutes).
For Audience:
A chance to enjoy unheard and unseen writing at an early stage, written by local writers and performed by local performers. You'll have the opportunity to give feedback to the writers on their works in progress, whilst have fun meeting members of Sunderland's creative community in the process.
* 'Sunderland Scratch' will be recorded for podcast output as part of the ArtyParti podcast. Please let me (producer Jay Sykes) know if you would not like your work to be recorded. This recording allows performers added value (a recording to be used as part of their voice reel) in exchange for giving up their time.
