About this event

Pica pica, Pica pica! presents: ARXX + Aphra + BlueFeed

Pica pica, Pica pica! makes a swift return to Voodoo Daddy’s Showroom because our second showcase of sparkling music treasures simply can’t wait… Swooping in from Brighton, it’s the hotly-tipped Queer Alt-Rock Gal Pal Duo ARXX, who were Radio 1’s BBC Music Introducing track of the week from 07 June with Couldn’t Help Myself!

Hanni and Clara have been making moves all over the UK and Europe, including appearances at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, The Great Escape, Icebreaker, Left Of The Dial and headlining House of Vans Next Era show. They’ve also played support slots on Black Honey, Liz Lawrence and Pillow Queens’ UK headline tours.

With acclaim from BBC Radio 1's Jack Saunders, Sophie K and Huw Stephens, Radio 6's Steve Lamacq and John Kennedy on Radio X, you’ll gather ARXX have mastered the art of the cracking tune. As proved by 1.7+ million streams and features on editorial playlists including New Music Friday, Hot New Bands and The Rock List, not to mention landing their first TV sync with the single DEEP, which featured on prime time BBC One for Match of The Day’s coverage of the 2020 Euros: back of the net!

Fred Perry Subculture, KEXP and NME are also big fans with NME declaring: “The duo have a knack for bruising riffs and deadpan lyrics. Their no-fucks spirit is infectious and invigorating.” It’s time to join in.

You’re also in for an ARXX-endorsed absolute treat, thanks to hand-picked supports in the shape of Aphra and BlueFeed.

Aphra’s music wriggles into your ear canals like the smell of an elder sister's cooking into your nasal cavity. Notes of young adult confusion and lust are mixed in equal measure with determined hope and resilient sunniness, swirling through your lobes like sangria.

Access Creative College national band of the year 2022 winners BlueFeed’s upbeat and bouncy indie-rock hints at nostalgia with dark twists uplifted by catchy, anthemic choruses. Check out BlueFeed’s debut EP, An Hour Late – all written, recorded and mixed at home – to whet your appetite for them opening the show at 7.30pm: best set an alarm as we’d hate you to miss them.
