Helen Bennion is Professor in Environmental Change, based in the Environmental Change Research Centre in UCL's Department of Geography. Her research interests are in palaeoecology, specialising in the environmental impacts of nutrient pollution and climate change on lowland lakes. Her primary focus is on understanding the causes, timing and magnitude of ecological change in order to better manage lake ecosystems in the future. She has published extensively and has sustained her research in the UK, Europe and China through major grants (NERC, EU) and consultancy projects. Her applied research has informed management of over 100 lakes and has contributed to European legislation.
