Shakespeare's As You Like It subverts the traditional rules of romance. Gender roles, nature and politics are confused in a play that reflects on how bewildering yet utterly pleasurable life can be.
Set in the 1970’s between the business driven monochrome court of Duke Frederick and the free-thinking Duke Senior’s domain of a floral festival in the Forest of Arden, courtship and confusion commence. Banished from the court, beautiful Rosaline disguises herself as a boy for protection, which becomes awkward when she stumbles upon her love Orlando and has to woo him.
Lords, Hippies and of course the band KISS all add to the musical eccentricity of this fanciful love story.
Our performers are working hard on their Griffin Centre debut and it promises to be a night of colourful family fun for all. So, don’t forget to wear some flowers in your hair and come along.
