Vanessa Love – An Inspector calls - outstanding practice, outstanding school.

Vanessa is an Education Consultant who is also a serving Ofsted Inspector. She will be reflecting on her experience of inspection and advising on how we can step back from the day to details to see our department from the outside as an inspector would. This has been a very popular session elsewhere.

“Accurately assessing and tracking children's progress in science contributes massively to securing good progress. Debbie will outline a host of practical ideas and activities easily useable in the primary classroom for both formative and summative assessment.”

Debbie was a primary teacher and left a deputy head's role to become a primary science adviser for Lancashire LA. As a founder partner of Primarily Science she is a well-established provider of primary science CPD providing a host of well received courses, conference sessions and school based work.
In addition to her work directly with teachers she has contributed to a range of innovative and well received resources including "Discovery Dog" and most recently with other members of the Primarily Science team and Anne Goldsworthy on "Science Bug", Pearson's primary science scheme for curriculum 2014. Her sessions are always packed with ideas to take away.

The session will cover some ideas for practical work with a few novel approaches and an eye on developing practical skills from KS3 to practical endorsement.

Mark was Head of Biology at a large co-educational school for fifteen years, with over 100 A level students in the department every year. He co-authored a textbook, is a resource developer and a visiting monitor for biology practical work.

Secondary teachers: Science Skills (Resources to aid pupils develop skills in 5 key areas) + Science Crosswords (an invaluable resources for revision, practicing target vocabulary, and homework).
