Event description

Description

The outdoor classroom presents a wide range of options to enhance learning and increase pupil's 'science capital'. But where can you go?

The website for the Royal Museums Greenwich (https://www.rmg.co.uk/) tells us that it is 'a top-10 UK visitor attraction' and 'home to the Royal Observatory Greenwich [where we are able to] see where time begins'. Exciting stuff, but have you ever thought about linking up with the RMG to enhance pupil learning of science topics? As well as exploring a couple of the galleries, our morning visit will provide the opportunity to talk to colleagues from the RMG to explain how they can support pupil learning in your classroom and in the outdoor classroom. Following a short business meeting you may also wish to attend a show at the planatarium (at 12.30), tickets are now available.

The full programme is shown below:

10:00 Arrival and greeting by a colleague from the Royal Observatory. Programme for the morning and a chance to network.

10.15.10.45 An opportunity to have a look around the astronomy centre galleries.

10:50 – 11:30 Annual business meeting.

11:40 – 12:20 Led by one of our colleagues from the museum, this CPD session will highlight the learning opportunities the Royal Observatory can offer teachers. The session will finish in plenty of time to allow you to get to the planetarium for the show if you have chosen to book one.

12:30 to 1:00 Planetarium show. - There is a minimal charge for this and tickets are available here

1:00 End of visit

We hope that you will be able to join us for a morning of celestial professional learning.

If you want to bring family, then you will need to organise tickets for them separately as the reduced entrance is for teachers attending the event.
