Event description

Description

This tree ID course will offer a practical guide to being able to identify trees in the woodlands of Kent. It will cover the necessary foundations of tree identification, including tree reproduction, structure and growth, how to identify trees throughout the seasons and a walk in the ash woodlands to practice your skills. The course is run by Mike Phillips who has been working with and around trees in Kent for many years and one of the team of experienced Rangers from Brockhill Country Parks.

Mike Phillips first started teaching people about trees and how to identify them alongside coordinating the Kent Tree Warden Scheme. Kent Tree Wardens look after the trees in their locality and are still operating today as an independent group. was the training officer at BTCV (now Tree Conservation Volunteers). His work has also included writing management plans for both community and commercial woodlands and working with people to enhance the biodiversity of their woodlands.

There will be plenty of time to ask questions, drink tea and spend time with the Ash Trees at Brockhill Country Park. The course is suitable for ages 8 and above.
Duration: approx 3 hours
