Ashford Fringe Festival is hosting a wonderful afternoon of classical music at St. Mary's - town centre. The event will take place on Sunday the 28th of May from 1 - 4pm.

Bass/Baritone - Steven East brings a simply mesmerising performance, but don't take our word for it, here's what the music critics have written about his incredible talent:

Soprano - Judith Smith is a classically trained soprano and a member of local groups Dover Operatic and Dramatic Society and Deal Savoyards. She also sings as a concert performer in venues around Kent. Judith recently took the lead part of Mabel in the Pirates of Penzance with the Savoyards and is delighted to be part of this Ashford Fringe Festival event.


TOBY CORDES - Toby is 18 and studying for a musical theatre diploma full time at the Canterbury Institute for Performing Arts. Toby sings as a soloist regularly for private events. Toby was Prince Eric in DODS Next Generation production of the Little Mermaid, Mr Hart in 9 to 5 The Musical, Baby John in West Side Story and the Rabbi’s son in Fiddler on the Roof with Ramsgate Operatic as well as Curly in their latest production of Oklahoma! He has been in two national Youth Music Theatre productions, Mort the Musical at the Rose, Kingston and Macbeth at the Drillhouse in London.


Alto - PAMELA MUDGE-WOOD - Pam teaches music in secondary and primary schools and from her home studio and also leads choirs, flash mobs to raise awareness of social issues and singing workshops. She has been a member of a number of leading choirs in East Kent including the Maridadi Singers and Enchoir where she acted as soloist. Pam regularly performs as a soloist for events including weddings, as well as with her duo The Mushrooms and as a member of close harmony a capella group Terravoces for Maddie4Music. Pam also plays and teaches saxophone and flute. Together with Maddie she is passionate about bringing the joy of music to people of all ages and backgrounds.




Rhonda Merrick - Established Singer/Songwriter with her songs regularly broadcast on regional and independent radio stations across the globe. Rhonda Merrick studied for 4 years with tutor Mary MacKenzie under the highly competitive Performance Voice program at San Diego State University before moving to England to earn a Bachelor's degree from the Open University and study music at the post-graduate level at Christ Canterbury University. She performed with the SDSU Opera Theatre Company and the San Diego Master Chorale. She has gone on to write the television series 'The Brilliant Book' which was broadcast on the Community Channel in 2014. Merrick wrote and composed all the music for the series with partner and multi-instrumentalist Ritchie Swann.

GARY CORDES (duet with Toby Cordes) - Known for his sunny personality and rich, powerful voice, Gary has become well known as a singer, actor and MC in his local community in East Kent. He enjoys singing across a wide range of genres from light classical and opera to folk songs, swing and music theatre. He regularly takes lead parts in operatic shows with groups locally including, most recently, the Pirate King from the Pirates of Penzance which he will sing today. His professional engagements include singing at weddings and funerals, an event celebrating the sea for the BBC in Deal, playing the part of a mystery man in an American documentary about the life of Handel filmed at Dover Castle, a cameo part in the national tour of Happy Days the Musical at the Marlowe Theatre, Canterbury, a special music programme commemorating the 200h anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar and as soloist for VE Day celebrations at Dover Town Hall, Sandwich Arts Week and the Dover Society. Gary regularly entertains in local care homes and day centres throughout East Kent with Maddie4Music.

MADDIE CORDES leads Maddie4Music, a music education business teaching singing, piano and violin and providing entertainment for all occasions, leading the adult Landmark Show Choir and close harmony group Terravoces and workshops for adults and children to enjoy music making together. Maddie was MD for the Margate performance of the national touring production Get Up and Tie Your Fingers and creative director of the film gala concert for Sandwich Arts Week. She regularly forms and leads choruses for one off performances including a tour to Belgium to perform a World War 1 commemoration piece with 500 other singers from France, Germany and the Netherlands, to back the BRIT award winning vocal trio BLAKE and for the Astor Big Band national tour raising funds for the Royal British Legion to help people with post traumatic stress disorder. She is a past member of London auditioned choirs and plays first violin with Revelation Strings. Maddie is passionate about sharing her expertise in the community, ensuring that everyone of all ages has the opportunity to experience the joy of making music. She is delighted to have been asked to set up the Ashford Fringe Festival Chorus and to lead the choir for its inaugural performance.
