Can I buy tickets on the gate?

Sorry, but there will be no tickets available on the gate as we have sold out. We have a strict capacity limit for licensing purposes.

Question 2

What about the weather?

Fingers crossed, we won’t need to cancel the event, however, fireworks and bad weather don’t mix. In case of bad weather we reserve the right to shorten or cancel the display up until the start time. The safety of our customers and volunteers is our top priority.

Question 3

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

If we need to cancel the event, we will provide a full refund for the face value of the ticket(s) purchased.

Question 4

Are you providing disabled parking?

Accepted Answer

Limited accessible parking is first-come, first-served. Email apspta17@gmail.com to reserve a space. Display your blue badge on the night. Spaces must be vacated after the event and can’t be used for rugby match parking. Non-disabled parking spaces cannot be reserved.

Can I buy food and drink?

Accepted Answer

Yes! 
A variety of hot and cold food, a student-run tuck shop, and a fully stocked bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks will be available. Please arrive early to enjoy our food and drink.

Question 6

Can we bring our own alcoholic drinks?

Accepted Answer

No. We will have a fully stocked bar with beers and ciders from the Bristol Beer Factory, a 'mulled’ alcoholic offering, as well as alcohol-free beer and a full range of soft drinks.

What safety precautions have you taken?

Accepted Answer

Full risk and health & safety assessments are complete. Precautions include: experienced pyrotechnician Dennis Glover with £10m public liability insurance, on-site security, Ashton Park School Parent Hub volunteers, St John’s Ambulance, and a school grounds team member to manage site issues.

Why can't we bring our own fireworks and/or sparklers?

Accepted Answer

The risk assessment and insurance does not cover people bringing their own fireworks, sparklers or pyrotechnics. You will be politely refused entry if you bring your own.

Question 9

Will there be a bonfire?

Accepted Answer

No. The display is taking place on the school playing fields and having a bonfire would ruin the football and rugby pitches!

Question 10

How long do the fireworks last?

The fireworks will last between 10 - 16 minutes depending on the weather.

Question 11

Will it be muddy?

Accepted Answer

It could be wet underfoot although there is plenty of hard-standing space.  Please dress appropriately for the weather.

Question 12

Does this clash with the Bristol Bears vs Australia XV game?

Accepted Answer

In short, yes! 
We have scheduled our event to finish at around 7.15 pm to allow plenty of time for the short walk to Aston Gate for a 7.45 pm kick-off.

Question 13

Will you be selling glow sticks, plastic light up toys etc?

Accepted Answer

No.  We recognise that fireworks night is not the most environmentally friendly event of the year and have worked hard to reduce our carbon footprint.  As such, we will not be selling any disposable plastic or chemical items. Thank you for your understanding.

Question 14

What happens if I lose a child on site?

Accepted Answer

Our volunteers will staff a lost children’s area throughout the event. The site is secure, with volunteers at the only entrance/exit. No child can leave without a parent or guardian. Please tell your children to ask a volunteer in a Hi-Viz jacket if they need help.

Question 15

Can I attend if I don’t live in south Bristol?

Absolutely! Although we aim to sell as many tickets as possible within the local community, everyone is welcome.

Question 16

Where does the money go?

Accepted Answer

This is a community event to showcase our school and give back to our supportive local community. All proceeds will go to the Ashton Park Parent Hub (Registered Charity No 1039677), which funds school equipment, subsidises trips, and supports major projects like a minibus or hall lighting.

How do I get there?

Accepted Answer

Please walk, cycle or use public transport if you can. Parking will be limited due to the Bristol Bears vs Australia XV rugby game. 
Buses stop within a ten-minute walk – see https://travelwest.info/ to plan your journey. 
Parson Street railway station is an approx 30 minute walk away.
