'Ask the Expert' – Funding Schools: Implications of a new national funding...
Thu 19 May 2016, 12:00 – 13:30 BST
Please join us for the next event in our 'Ask The Expert' series, in association with the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).
The government has proposed the gradual introduction of a national school funding formula in England from 2017–18 onwards. This would replace the 152 different funding formulae used by local authorities with one single, simple formula applying across all state-funded schools in England.
Luke Sibieta from the Institute for Fiscal Studies will discuss the potential implications of this radical change to the school funding system and set the changes in a proper historical context by illustrating how spending has varied across different groups of schools and area over the last thirty years.
