About this event
Aslama: A Community Gathering for Converts to Islam
Aslama welcomes you to our first inclusive community event created specifically for White British converts to Islam. Whether you have just embraced islam or been a convert muslim for many years. The purpose of this gathering is to provide a warm, understanding space where converts can come together, connect, and begin to build lasting relationships rooted in shared experience and faith.
🌿 Why the Name Aslama?
The name Aslama was chosen with deep meaning. Inspired by the Arabic word “salam” (peace) and a sense of safe return or coming home, Aslama represents the journey many converts make when they enter Islam, seeking peace, belonging, and a place to be fully themselves. It symbolises both a greeting and a grounding, a message to each attendee: “You are welcome here. You belong here.”
This event is designed to meet the unique needs of converts, especially those navigating the faith without family support. It offers a space for shared stories, new friendships, and spiritual encouragement in a setting that feels more like a home than an event.
But this is just the beginning. Aslama is intended to grow into something lasting: a long-term community initiative that includes regular meetups, social activities, family-friendly events, and peer support. The goal is to foster real connection, mutual care, and a sense of identity grounded in both Islam and community.
Together, through Aslama, we hope to plant the seeds of a strong, supportive convert community built on peace, purpose, and people who truly understand your journey.
A message from the founders of Aslama
Mother and Daughter, Dawn-Sabeeha & Safiyya
Many of us who embrace this faith walk a quieter path ,leaving what we knew behind, yet never fully feeling settled. We know the feeling of sitting alone on Eid, carrying Islam proudly but longing for a place to simply feel at peace. But along the way, we often find ourselves standing between two worlds , never quite belonging to the community we left, and not always feeling welcomed into the one we joined.
Our children feel this too. Without strong networks, their confidence, their sense of belonging and later their experiences with marriage, community and faith suffer.
Aslama is here to create something lasting a community for white British converts and their families old and new Muslims alike, to share milestones and remind each other that our Deen is for all of us, and we each deserve a place to call home.
