'Aspirations': A Screening of International Short Films

Part of the 2018 Watersprite Film Festival, this screening weaves together narratives of aspirations; of ambition, dreams, successes and disappointments. The filmmakers will be joining us from all over the world to take part in Q & A after the screening.

// The Sliding Man // (Belgium)
Michel is faced with reality when he receives an ominous diagnosis.

// The Keeper // (UK)
The Keeper is the story of a man who creates narratives as a coping mechanism for a loss in his life. Dark recurring fables help him find a strange contentment in the space between his lonely reality and his imagination. The soundtrack is beautiful.

// Die Last der Erinnerung (The Burden of Memory) // (Austria)
This hilarious short shows the encounter between Herr Fitzhum, sent to find a music score from the incredibly messy flat of Herr Szabo, who borrowed the score for his dissertation which he never completed.

// It's Calm Here // (Hungary)
This documentary shows the story of the Zsolt, a pediatric heart surgeon. On a daily basis, he must work to keep his humanity in the face of difficult decisions.

// Blind Audition // (Germany)
For a few years the violinists Ari and Ron have been a couple. When they both get invited to audition for the solo part of an orchestra they suddenly become competitors and their mutual trust is put through a hard test when Ron receives a tempting offer from the orchestra's conductor.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start in order to secure your place, and have a look at the other screenings during the festival!
