Description

If you have recently joined government communication you need to know the role of your new profession and how you can help to bring policy to life; work successfully with ministers and special advisers; and how the modern Civil Service works.

How will I benefit?

By the end of this one day workshop, you will have developed a broad understanding of our role as communicators, along with knowledge of the essentials of the current government and the professional environment.

Specifically, you will be able to:

  • Understand the modern Civil Service, describing its role and responsibilities
  • Describe the current government’s policy and communication priorities
  • Describe the role of communication in delivering policy, including relationships with ministers, special advisers, other civil servants, the media and the public.

We will also introduce the latest thinking in the use of:

  • behaviour change theory
  • evaluation; and
  • social media

Registration for this course will be at 9.15 for a 9.30 start.
