Aspire Medicine & Dentistry's IN-PERSON Volunteering & Reflection Programme

Make a difference in both society and your Medical/Dental School application!

Our partners will facilitate your regular IN-PERSON volunteering sessions supporting older people in a care home near you! What's more, you will get FREE access to a self-reflection booklet, monthly 1-1 session mentoring sessions with your mentor to check up on your progress, complementary workshops to support your volunteering sessions to help you effectively reflect on your experiences in your medical/dental school application, FREE participation in our society and FREE access to Aspire's selected events.

What does this programme include:

1. Regular volunteering sessions at care home near you!

These sessions will allow you to meet with older people; talk about the things that matter to them, and hear the amazing stories of their life. Volunteering shows excellent, ongoing, commitment and you’ll learn how to build empathetic relationships with people from different generations and backgrounds. You’ll also develop other interpersonal skills such as good communication and empathy which are essential for a Doctor or Dentist.

2. Complementary workshops and resources provided by Aspire Medicine & Dentistry

On top of the regular volunteering sessions and live masterclasses, you will also be provided with a self-reflection booklet, and access to additional workshops to help you reflect on your experiences in your application

3. Monthly 1-1 meeting with a mentor

You'll also have 1-1 monthly meetings with our mentor from our team, who will check up on your progress, as well as help you through the reflective process.

4. Free access to our events

Also, you’ll get free access to our selected events, ranging from our Insight days, Half -Term workshops, Personal statement workshops, UCAT workshops, Interview workshops and more! *

5. Participation in our society

What's more, you'll also have exclusive access to our Medicine/Dentistry society, where you will have the opportunity to listen, comment on other presentation and also have the chance to present yourself!

What happens after I book?

You will initially be sent a confirmation email from Eventbrite. You will then be contacted by one of our team outlining and taking your through the the quick application process which will enable you to start volunteering. Our partner has care homes located across the country, therefore you will be also be instructed to confirm which of the care homes you are interested in volunteering in. More information regarding this will be detailed within the email. Upon completion of the application process, you will be invited for a quick chat and tour at your chosen care home, and will be ready to commence your volunteering journey!

Once you have started your volunteering sessions, you will be sent your self-reflection booklet as well as links to our complementary workshops.

Who is this programme suitable for?

This programme is suitable for anyone in Year10 and above (the ages of 14 and above).
