This in-person set of twilight workshops will provide a comprehensive insight into deputy and headship roles and responsibilities and is designed to equip colleagues with both the knowledge and skills to flourish in these roles. The course will cover the following key themes in a practical, theoretical and discussion-based format.
Workshops
Session 1 – Stepping up to Deputy Headship
- What is the difference between Assistant Headship and Deputy Headship?
- The importance of stepping up to cover the Headteacher in times of absence
- Generating and maintaining stakeholder buy-in
- The recruitment process and creating the winning Deputy Headship application
Session 2 – Stepping up to Headship
- What is the difference between Deputy Headship and Headship?
- Managing stakeholder relationships
- Developing a coherent and inspiring whole school vision
- The recruitment process and creating the winning Headship application
Session 3 - What do I do with one of these?
- Preparing for the unexpected at Deputy and Headship level
- Exploring unseen elements of the roles
- A day in the life of a Deputy Headteacher
- A day in the life of a Headteacher
Details about the presenters:
Andy is the current Headteacher of Maiden Erlegh Chiltern Edge and soon to be Headteacher of River Academy. Under his leadership, Chiltern Edge has improved from Requires Improvement to Good and results have improved exponentially. Previously Andy was Deputy Headteacher and co-Headteacher of Brakenhale School.
Paul is the Headteacher of Maiden Erlegh School and has moved the school from Good to Outstanding and improved progress 8 to 0.7. Previously Paul was Deputy Headteacher and co-Headteacher of Brakenhale School.
Payment
Payment is required at the time of booking by credit card, debit card or Paypal. Unless otherwise stated, a ticket gives admission to one person at face-to-face and online events. If you arrive at the event without a ticket, you will be required to book and pay for your place on Eventbrite again at the venue.
Refunds
Tickets are not transferable or refundable.
In the event of a refund request due to exceptional circumstances, please note that the Eventbrite booking fee of 6.95% plus 0.59p per ticket is not refundable.
To keep our event fees as low as possible, we are not able to issue invoices for payment by cheque or bank transfer and we are not able to reserve places without payment.
We strongly recommend that you take out 'event ticket insurance' which may cover the cost of your fee should you be unable to attend the event.
