Assertiveness in the Workplace for Women
Thu 27 April 2017, 10:00 – 16:00 BST
Free one-day course is aimed at women who would like to become more assertive in their workplace.
Are you able to voice your real opinions with colleagues? Do you find it difficult to say no? Would you like to assert your position during negotiations more effectively? Assertiveness is an essential skill to develop your career.
Being more assertive can also help improve the quality of your relationships and support you to become more confident and competent.
This workshop will help you to:
Assess how assertive you feel in different areas of your life.
Understand what we mean by being assertive, non-assertive and aggressive; explore how these behaviours are exhibited, verbally and non-verbally and the consequences of these behaviours in the workplace.
Learn and practise simple techniques to improve your assertiveness skills.
Set short-term achievable goals, tailored to your personal situation.
The course is very interactive and learning will be through individual and group exercises, self-reflection, hand-outs, group discussions and coaching techniques. You will be encouraged to practise new skills in a safe and supportive environment. Everyone will prepare an action plan to take back to your workplace or to aid you in your job-search.
