Course Description

 

Promotion of resilent and sustainable activity tolerance utilizing exercise as medicine. INTEGRATION of methods from Bio, Psycho, & Social dimensions following scientific review of various myths of common approaches. Learning the four key principles of developing an EFFICIENT approach to pain de-sensitization  & return to function. Building trust through person-centered programming based on identification of functional goals & concerns. Profile comes before program in order to achieve a high degree of relatedness and resultant motivation for change.

  • How to establish functional goals & reduce fear- avoidance beliefs
  • The 4 steps of safe, sustainable training
  • The 4 principles for efficient integration(avoiding no pain no gain; quality>quantity; hardest thing your do well; dynamic system theory (DST))
  • Movement prep
  • 3 Block Isometric Torso training
  • Glute activation
  • Directional preference subclassification
  • Spine sparing hip hinge

Monday Morning you will be able to:

 

  • Create a needs analysis and establish person centered goals anchored to their WHY
  • Progress people through the key 4 steps of building load tolerance
  • Determine the acute:chronic workload  ratio
  • Identify key yellow flags of heightened risk of chronicity
  • Progress people through glute & torso activation trainable menu
  • Teach hip hinge
  • Utilize DST for skill acquisition via gamification

Speaker

Dr. Liebenson is the Director of L.A. Sports & Spine, a pain management, rehabilitation & performance enhancement center providing one on one musculoskeletal care. He is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Chiropractic, Division of Health Sciences at Murdoch University, Perth Australia and consultant for the  the Anglo-European Chiropratic College M.Sc. programs in Chiropractic Rehabilitation. The first ever chiropractic member of the McKenzie Institute (U.S.) Board of Directors he serves on the editorial boards of numerous journals including the Journal of Occupational Rehabilitation; the PM&R  Journal of Injury, Function and Rehabilitation; the Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapy; and Journal of Manual Therapy.

Dr. Liebenson is the first health care provider in California to receive a Certification of Recognition from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) on Achievement of Recognition for Delivery of Quality Back Pain Care. He is actively engaged in ongoing research on the spinal stabilization system as a Visiting Scholar at Pr. Stuart McGill’s Spine Biomechanics Laboratory at the University of Waterloo. He began studying with both Dr. Karel Lewit and Pr Vladimir Janda beginning in 1987 and began hosting Pavel Kolar’s programs in the late 1990’s.

Dr. Liebenson publishes extensively and is the editor of  the book/DVD Rehabilitation of the Spine: A Practioner’s Manual (2nd ed), 2007, DVD series Yoga & Ergonomics; Core Stability Training; & Functional-Performance Training and the The Functional Training Handbook (2014). He has had books published into Spanish, Greek, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese. He worked as team chiropractor for the N.B.A. Los Angeles Clippers from 2005-2009, consulted with the M.L.B. Arizona Diamondbacks, N.F.L. Seattle Seahawks, and Boston Sports Medicine and Performance Group. He serves on the Advisory Council for Equinox worldwide luxury fitness gyms.

Course organisers reserve the right to make alterations to fees, arrangements and dates for teaching and learning sessions, including the decision to run all or parts of the course in the light of demand. In the event that the course is cancelled or re-scheduled by the course organiser, a full refund of fees will be given, but the college takes no responsibility for travel or accommodation expenses incurred by the delegate. 

If for any reason you are unable to attend the seminar please be aware that fees will be refunded, less a £10 administration charge, for all cancellations received at least 30 days before the event. Cancellations received after the 30 day period but 7 days prior to the seminar date will receive a 50% refund less the £10 administration charge. No refunds can be given after this time.
