About this event

Community • Heritage

Aston University grew from roots set deep in the industrial life and trade of nineteenth century Birmingham. It was the first College of Advanced Technology and was Inaugurated as a university in 1966. Our walk will explore the campus and its immediate city surroundings to seek out evidence of its 1950s/1960s heritage. Aston commissioned several notable buildings by Sir Basil Spence and has some interesting examples of Public Art.

The walk will also include a perambulation of 1, Lancaster Circus, now under threat of demolition.
