Event Details

Join us in celebrating the Astrocampus' first birthday!

At 7:30, in P/L/001, Professor Chris Stewart of the University of Sydney will deliver a lecture asking why do we study and research astronomy, and why do we teach astronomy? With all of the issues and problems and challenges we face on the surface of our own planet, why turn our faces to the heavens? Afterwards, join us at the Astrocampus itself for a tour of the facilities and, of course, birthday cake!

The Astrocampus will also be open every night for the remainder of the week, to celebrate not only its birthday, but British Science Week and the BBC's Stargazing Live as well! You can book your free visit here.

The University of York's Heslington West campus lies just outside the city centre. Parking is available on the South side of campus, immediately behind the Physics Exhibition Centre. Both the 4 and 44 buses run regularly between the city centre and the University of York.
The Astrocampus is on the south-west side of campus, on the cycle path behind the sports centre. On the evening, the Astrocampus can be contacted on 01904 322 249, and prior to the evening on 01904 322 209.
