Astronomy at Stonehaugh - Aurora
Overview
Stonehaugh Astronomy is located in the Northumberland International Dark Sky Park, the largest expanse of protected gold tier dark sky in the whole of Europe.
While we can’t guarantee you’ll see the aurora on the night, we can tell you what causes the ‘Northern and Southern Lights’.
Join us as we examine the mysteries and science behind the aurora.
We will look at the various apps and software that are available to help predict the likelihood of seeing the aurora, which websites are good sources of information.
By the time you leave the event you will be armed with the knowledge to go out and hunt the aurora for yourself
The event is held in Northumberland, England and as such we feel we need to add this disclaimer;
We at Stonehaugh Astronomy are unable to control or influence the weather in any way, weather conditions can impede or prevent our ability to observe the night sky.
All events will proceed regardless of the weather and guests are advised that you can have fun in the dark, in the middle of nowhere if you get involved fully and immerse yourself in the night.
Come and have fun while you learn.
