Astronomy at Stonehaugh - The Dark Universe

Astronomy at Stonehaugh - The Dark Universe

By Liam Reid - Stonehaugh Enterprises

Overview

Black holes, Dark matter and Dark energy, terms used for things we can't see, so how do we know they actually exist?

This evening is intended as a gentle introduction to all things astronomical. An opportunity to ask those big far reaching questions that have always puzzled you.

You’ll enjoy a specialist talk all about The Dark Universe.

We’ll discuss black holes, which are the the focus of many a SiFi movie, but do they exist and if so what are they?

Dark matter and Dark energy are quite new to most people, terms used to explain the way the universe is behaving, how it is expanding.

But how much do we really know?

Be warned, you’ll probably go home with more questions than you arrived with.

If the skies are clear we will observe using our wide aperture telescopes, such things as the planets, nebula, star clusters and more.

Please be aware our events are an astronomical presentation with observing if weather permits.

Unfortunately we cannot control the weather, but our events go ahead regardless.

When observing is possible, temperatures can be severe and the ground underfoot can be soft and wet, to ensure your own comfort, please wear suitable attire.
