Event description

Description

Experience the wonders of the night sky from the shores of Chew Valley Lake. Join experts from the Bristol Astronomical Society for an introduction to the world of astronomy.

If the skies are clear, you will be given a conducted visual tour of the night sky and will then be able to look through a range of telescopes at galaxies, star clusters, nebulae etc.

If the weather is cloudy, there will be talks on ‘Planets around Other Stars’ and ‘A Tour Through the Outer Planets - from Jupiter to Pluto’. There also be plenty of telescopes to look at and people to talk with about astronomy.

The event is family friendly and is suitable for anyone with an interest in learning about astronomy, although the talks will be more suitable for those aged 12 and over.

Doors open at 7.00 p.m. for a 7.30 p.m. start. The event will finish at about 9.30 p.m.

Entry is only by advance-purchase ticket - cost £6 plus Eventbrite fee. No tickets will be available on the evening.
