This session explores the complexity of bereavement grief and loss for those seeking asylum.
About this event
This 3-hour workshop will explore how complex and often traumatic loss, grief and bereavement impacts on children, young people and their families who are seeking asylum in the UK. It is designed to help those who work within this area - including those in the education, health, social care and voluntary sectors - gain an insight into and understanding of how best to provide support.
Learning outcomes
You will:
- Gain an understanding of grief and bereavement and the grieving process.
- Gather some insight into the impact of grief and bereavement for asylum-seeking families who may have witnessed and experienced traumatic bereavement, and the complexities that arise from this.
- Increase awareness of our own needs as professionals, and explore ways to support ourselves and our colleagues.
- Gain information about Child Bereavement UK and other support organisations and resources available.
Suitable for professionals working in education, health or social care, and those working alongside asylum-seeking families.
