Workshop outline

Programmers using Java have focused a lot on parallelism and concurrency over the years. In more recent years, however, with web services, Microservices, and changing business needs, asynchronous programming has gained significance. Furthermore in recent releases of Java we have had some amazing features that make asynchronous programming much more approachable.

In this workshop we will take the time to discuss the benefits of asynchronous programming, how to achieve that in Java, and go over some of the dos and don’ts. Come prepared to pair up and write code, we will have a number of hands-on exercises to practice the concepts.

Requirements:

  • Java 21 or newer
  • Your favorite IDE, IntelliJ IDEA community edition preferable
  • GIT client to access a git repository
