Description

At the end we begin
Richard Chappell Dance
Saturday 3rd June || 7.30pm

Taking inspiration from T.S. Eliot's classic Four Quartet's Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages and Little Gidding, internationally renowned British choreographer Richard Chappell presents his new evening of work At the end we begin. Using the notions of time and focus as a point of departure, the piece inhabits the derelict and sometimes turbulent landscape of Eliot's poetry through both a sensitive and aggressive dance expression.

Stemming from his experiences of classical ballet, contemporary dance, martial arts and improvisation, Richard's powerful and full bodied choreographic language will be combined with emerging composer Samuel Hall's score of piano and cello to create a thrilling and arresting response to Eliot's timeless poetry.

As a choreographer Richard is dedicated to continuing to research and create unique dance environments by combining virtuoso movements with improvisation and task-based methods. By combining Richard's fascination into the individual, with his interest into finding honesty through physical excursion, the work take audiences along a journey of full bodied movement. Since 2014, Richard has been commissioned to create works for Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, Chichester University and the National Youth Ballet and has lead workshops for Singapore School of the Arts, Youth Dance England and Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Richard is a Discovery Artist at Pavilion Dance South West and choreographer for BalletWorks.
