Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme with Jamila Duncan-Bosu and Freddy Russell
This training will provide an introduction to and overview of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme and is aimed at support and legal professionals who have experience working with survivors but would like to increase their understanding of how to support a survivor through the CIC scheme.
The session will include:
- An overview of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme (CICS)
- Interaction between CICS and other compensation routes
- Guidance on eligibility requirements
- Submitting an application to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)
- When someone may be entitled to legal aid to make an application to CICA
During this practical, hands on course you will also be able to try writing your own CICA application.
Our goal is that you will walk away from the training with increased knowledge about the eligibility requirements for submitting a CICA application and how to support a survivor going through the process.
