You are invited to join the Atrial Fibrillation Pan London Community of Practice event for Protect and Correct.
On Wednesday 28th September, 1-4.30pm, UCLPartners - Academic Health Science Partners, 170 Tottenham Court Road, W1T 7HA.
Lunch will be provided from 1pm.
This community of practice (C.o.P.) aims to provide an opportunity for London CCGs to come together and explore the best ways to achieve improvement through effective Protecting and Correcting treatment for those with diagnosed AF. It has three improvement activities: -
- Increasing anticoagulation (including risk factor management and decreasing aspirin)
- Initiate anticoagulation in primary care (including risk factor management)
- Heartrate & rhythm control (onward referral)
It is our aim to bring best practice examples and experts together to continue to spread the great work that has already been accomplished in this area and promote sharing and learning across the AF community.
This protect and correct C.o.P forms part of a series of community of practice events taking place over the next 12 months as part of the the Pan-London Atrial Fibrillation (AF) Improvement Programme, which aims to Prevent AF-related stroke and associated mortality through better identificaiton and mangement of people with Atrial Fibrillation.
Protect (& Correct) context overview.
At least 25% of people diagnosed with AF are not appropriately anticoagulated. It is estimated that 11,600 AF-related strokes, including 3,200 fatal strokes could be avoided in England each year if all those at risk of stroke for whom anticoagulation was not contraindicated or declined were treated appropriately.
