Tuesday 1st May 2018 – 19th June 2018

This 7 week course is an adapted version of our ‘Time Out for Special Needs’ course and has attachment theory underpinning all modules.

This course is open to parents/carers with long term placements including adopters, long-term foster carers, special guardians and kinship carers of children and young people who have experienced trauma of separation or loss and have special needs and/or disabilities who are living in Reading, Wokingham or West Berkshire.

This course runs on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm on the following dates: 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd May, break for half-term, 5th, 12th and 19th June. This is then followed by an extra optional 2 weeks on Sleep.

Topics covered include:

– Impact of trauma
– Symptom overlap with ASD/ADHD
– Building blocks of Attachment
– Therapeutic Parenting
– Understanding & managing behaviour
– Life story work
– School issues for LAAC, EHCP, Pupil Premium etc.
– Secondary trauma to carers
