A three-hour webinar:
· For individual and couple therapists
· For practitioners who have an interest in attachment theory and would like to think about how attachment works between partners.
We will address these questions:
· How does attachment impact our selection of a mate?
· How do attachment strategies play out in a relationship over the years?
· What happens when two partners have ‘competing’ attachment patterns?
· What does a row between an avoidant and an anxious partner look like?
· What about two avoidant partners in a conflict-avoidant relationship?
· How does attachment impact a couple’s sexual relationship?
· How do neurodivergent and neurotypical partners cope together?
· How does attachment influence both care-seeking and caregiving skills?
Finally I will consider how we can help individual clients who bring their relationship to therapy. We will look at working with the ‘couple in mind’ as well as recognising instances where this may not be possible.
The approach I take is based on my own training at The Bowlby Centre, my systemic training with Relate and my most recent training and experience in EFT (Emotionally focused couple therapy). I will present with a PowerPoint presentation, discussion, question and answers, and there will be breakout rooms for specific exercises.
