About this event

Health • Personal health

For something so central to our lives, we rarely spend time examining how we attach to others, and why. Yet our peculiarities in love and friendship, our longings and defences, our trust and our distance, often stem from deep-rooted emotional patterns first laid down in early childhood. These patterns, known as attachment styles, shape the very architecture of our relationships, often without our full awareness.

In this gently illuminating evening, The School of Life invites you to explore the three major styles of attachment: secure, anxious and avoidant. But this isn’t a lecture or a diagnosis. It’s a playful, communal investigation into the ways we connect (or don’t), featuring a series of light-hearted prompts and curious questions that help uncover what makes us and those we care about tick.

With a spirit of openness, humour and psychological insight, we’ll map our tendencies, share stories, and perhaps find comfort in the realisation that we’re far from alone in our quirks. It’s a chance not only to understand ourselves better, but also to see others with more patience and compassion.

Whether you think you're anxiously clinging, avoidantly dodging, securely relating or none of the above. Join us for an evening of thoughtful discussion, gentle revelations and warm community.

Please note: this is an exclusive access event for The School of Life Members. The ticket costs £50, excluding ticket fees and VAT. This event has 40 spaces available.
