Event Details

A 2 day Training Conference to help proffessionals understand the Neuroscience of Attachment and the Impact of Developmental Trauma, Toxic Stress and Shame

*This training is only for professionals. We plan to run this training for parents and carers later on in the year*

There will be 3 speakers across this 2 day conference. This will include presentations from people who have lived through the care system, bringing this training to life, as well as highlighting the hopeful message of resilience.

What will this event involve?

Beyond Psychology Service delivers training to professionals working with children. The 2 day course aims to develop an understanding about the importance of early relationships and trauma on the way children and young people develop and subsequently learn & relate to others. The training builds knowledge about the impact of trauma & disruptions in these early relationships. We explore how to help these young people develop emotional regulation, resilience and recover. You will specifically hear about the compassion-focused therapeutic approach, and how we use such approach in our work. You will also have the chance to practice various strategies based on this approach, and how to apply them in you work with young people.

Day One Schedule (25th March 2020)

We develop participant’s knowledge regarding accessible ways of understanding neuroscience, and discuss the impact toxic stress has on the brain and emotional regulation. We also explore trauma in the context of the attachment styles a person may go on to develop, and how these styles impact on behaviour, emotions and how a person gets their needs met.

We consider, develop and practice strategies and techniques to help promote recovery in children and opitimal emotional development. These include, interventions based on Theraplay principles, and emotional coaching models; PACE (Dan Hughes).

Furthermore, we discuss techniques for helping promote self-worth, resilience & recovery.
