This workshop teaches you what attachment trauma is, and how it can impact attachment relationships when it is ‘unresolved’. It will emphasise why viewing a parent through a lens of childhood trauma enhances our understanding of the behaviours they may be displaying towards their child, as well as professionals. We look at how we can move beyond being ‘trauma informed’, and towards being ‘trauma responsive’, and how relationship-based practice techniques will help facilitate this. You will be guided on how best to navigate discussions with parents about their childhood experiences, as well as an the use of an attachment trauma practice checklist to help apply your learning.
