Event description

Description

Attracting and retaining great fundraisers!

More and more charities, especially those outside London or the country’s larger cities, claim to be struggling to recruit, and more importantly, retain, good fundraisers. What can you do within your charity to improve your attractiveness to great fundraisers and to encourage them to stay once they’re in post?

This session is specifically designed for charity Chief Execs and Trustees - the people who have the power and influence to bring about the changes necessary to make yours an attractive and unmissable opportunity and to keep it that way.

About your trainer:

Claire Warner is a glass-faced northerner who wears her heart on her sleeve and loves what she does. On graduating, Claire (unsurprisingly) didn’t get the Fundraiser job she interviewed for at the Halle. But they saw in her something they liked so created a trainee role with access to two career-springboarding elements: an amazing boss; and an organisational culture (and associated budget) which supported staff development. It was here Claire developed a love of selling a “WHY” and of using beneficiary stories to build relationships.

Six years later, via Opera North and the Imperial War Museum North Public Appeal, Claire transitioned into a freelance career, where she has worked since, helping small and medium sized, less infrastructured charities achieve amazing things. In 2016, Claire was diagnosed with breast cancer and was forced to temporarily stop working and experience life as a beneficiary herself.

Now recovered, and capitalising on her new perspective, Claire works as a Consultant and Coach, using her 20 years’ experience to support those in the roles she used to crave, but can no longer commit to.

In 2019, Claire established Charity Well, championing the WellDoing and WellBeing of those working (and all-too-frequently burning-out) in the fundraising sector. Under the Charity Well umbrella, Claire is conducting research; offering training to Trustees; CEOs & Senior Managers in how to create a ‘Well” culture across their organisation and in particular, within their fundraising teams; and undertaking “well” audits with charities and their teams and working with them to improve their culture and their “Wellness”.
