Attracting Talent for Future Cumbria

Following our successful Developing Future Cumbria Conference in September 2015, Cumbria CIPD will be leading events in 2017 for HR Professionals to support them in addressing the predicted skills shortage agenda in the county over the next 5–10 years. Our first event, Attracting Talent, will focus on delivering inspirational ideas, tools, best practice and practical advice on attracting and recruiting the best talent into our region and our businesses.

An update on the current job scene and the predicated skills shortage for Cumbria.

Latest thinking on talent attraction and recruitment – CIPD

A senior member of CIPD Executive Team will discuss the latest research and best practice on talent attraction and recruitment

Q and A session

 

The panel above will be joined by David Brennan from Cumbria LEP who can provide insightful data for your region.

An interactive session with an opportunity for delegates to ask questions of the panel, discuss the implications for their businesses and share ideas for the future.

Two Case studies which will be provide insights into the following:

  • Innovative solutions to finding people with the right mix of skills for your business
  • Lessons learnt from what has worked and what hasn’t
  • Large scale employers and how they approach recruitment in a time of shortage
  • Ideas for attracting talent if your brand is less well known

Using Technology in the Search for Talent  - Harvey Greenwood, Expion Search and Selection

Some practical tips on using technology to identify and recruit talent. How to position your company for inbound talent attraction, plus using Linked in, your company recruitment page, and job boards.

Our next event in October 2017 will focus on retention, development and retraining your staff to secure and improve your talent pipeline for the future.

CIPD Cumbria Branch

The CIPD Cumbria Branch provides opportunities for its 550 members to network with local HR and L&D professionals, to continue with their professional development and remain up to date with HR issues. There is an active programme of events through the year for further details just click on the event you are interested in and you can then book your place online.

Unless otherwise stated branch events are free for CIPD members to attend, there is a non-member fee of £10 which must be paid online when booking.
