About this event

Arts • Craft

This etching technique is very easy to learn. Once you’ve grasped the basics, you will design and etch your own picture. Etching into photographs combines the everyday world, as picked up by a camera, with the fantastical realms of the human imagination. There's no ink or paint used, as the process reveals colours which lie hidden under the surface of every photograph.

Jenni Gudgeon is a writer and photographic artist from Fife, who creates pictures by etching (scraping) designs into the top layers of her photos.

She has written and illustrated two guidebooks to Scottish mythical creatures, along with a series of novels about a self-help group for the people who interest faeries.

No experience necessary and all materials, including photographs, provided. Minimum age 14. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult who does not need a separate ticket unless they wish to participate in the workshop. The event is free, guests can make a donation towards the Auchterarder Picturehouse Charity at the event. Refreshments available.

Please note that the venue is in an upstairs room of the Auchterarder Picturehouse that can only be accessed via a flight of stairs.
