Description

Jin Sangtae / Secluded Bronte & James Holcombe / Ryoko Akama

The orbits of the universe, the neverending loops of history and the fragily of our material world inspire the three performances on Saturday evening. Might you discover a lack of meaning or a world full of possibilities?

Ryoko Akama is a sound artist/composer/performer, who approaches minimalistic compositions that magnify silence, time and space and offer quiet temporal/spatial experiences. Her works examine delicate and fragile objects such as paper balloons and glass bottles, creating tiny occurrences that embody ‘almost nothing’ aesthetics. Her performance and installation works are comprised of automated mundane objects and simple electronics in order to produce spontaneous vibration activities.

Adam and Jonathan Bohman have been key figures in experimental underground music for decades as performers and curators of improvised and experimental music. Their practice encompasses unconventional instrumentation, contact miked objects, collage, drawing, and graphic notation. Richard Thomas is an artist, musician, performer, and writer, and is one third of Secluded Bronte with Adam and Jonathan Bohman. He is a writer and reviewer for publications such as The Wire Magazine.

James Holcombe’s work combines a process based material engagement with photochemical film and the chance outcomes possible through expanded projection and improvisation across sound and image.

Born in 1975, Seoul Korea. Jin sangtae has been performing with non-musical objects collected through his experience, projected into instruments, and then re-organise them to specific spaces. He's been playing with hard drives and several materials that can be connected as a main instruments, and he also plays laptops, radios, car horns and electronics.

audiograft is a PWYD (Pay What You Decide) festival.

PWYD works by enabling audiences to attend shows without paying for a ticket beforehand, but tickets can be reserved prior to a performance. Then on exiting the show, you have the opportunity to pay what you decide you want to, or can afford to, based on your overall enjoyment of the performance.

Please ensure you have arrived and collected your tickets 15 minutes before the show starts in order to secure your seats. At the end of the show, you can decide what to pay, by cash on the door.
