Augmented 4th : In Concert
Sat 26 August 2017, 19:30 – 22:30 BST
AUGMENTED 4th is a lively new vocal quintet based in London. The Group which was first put together last year, is led and managed by Martha Woodhams, who is also the first soprano in the group. Augmented 4th gave its debut concert at St Nicolas in December last year during the Christmas Tree Festival. That concert was much acclaimed by the large and appreciative audience. Their expertise caused one audience member to comment “I think that was the best singing I have heard at St. Nicolas!” So, it is by popular demand that they return to St Nicolas as part of our summer series.
The members of Augmented 4th are all current, or former members of the Chapel Choir of Kings College London, one of the finest university choirs in Britain, who have performed all over the world as well as regularly sing at top concert and church venues in London. They regularly broadcast on the BBC and have also made a number of professional recordings, the most recent being a recording of the Brahms ‘German Requiem’, the first time it has ever been recorded in the rare version accompanied by two pianos.
Augmented 4th themselves sing in a wide range of vocal styles and genre, and as well as singing together, this concert will also feature solo items by the individual members. On this occasion, the choir will be accompanied by our Rector, Roy Woodhams.
Tickets including interval wine and refreshments are available online, from the Church Office and from the Handyman Store, High Street, Cranleigh
