Description
Claydon Estate - August Bank Holiday Sunday (26th) & Monday (27th)
This August Bank Holiday, the Sealed Knot, in its 50th anniversary year, will bring the sights and sounds of the English Civil Wars to Claydon Estate, the ancestral home of the Verney family who were intimately connected with the war and exemplified the divisions it caused.
On Sunday 26th and Monday 27th this beautiful estate will echo to the sound of musket and cannon fire, the steady beat of the drums, the charge of cavalry and the clash of pike.
Set against the back-drop of the Estate’s beautiful gardens, courtyard, and All Saints Parish Church, a living history camp and displays will bring to life both military and civilian life in a period that shaped so much of how we live today.
Adjacent to the Sealed Knot event site is Claydon House, this is owned and run by the National Trust open between 11am-5pm each day. There will be an additional National Trust entry charge to visit Claydon House.
The living history camp is open from 11.00am on Sunday and Monday and the battle starts at around 2.00pm.
