The August Sydney Rugby Business Network meeting will feature Jim Molan AO DSC, who is a retired Major General in the Australian Army, as well as his daughter, Erin, who is a sports reporter and presenter on Channel 9's NRL Footy Show. We also have a segment with former Wallaby, Benn Robinson, who will give us his insights into the upcoming Bledisloe Cup match.
The cost is $30, which is to be paid via Eventbrite. This includes canapés and a complimentary beer or wine on entry.
Note: Tickets are strictly limited to 2 people per registration. Please include both attendees' names, emails, job titles and companies in the registration for name tags.

MAJOR GENERAL (Retd) ANDREW JAMES (JIM) MOLAN AO DSC
Jim Molan AO DSC retired from the Australian Army in 2008 after 40 years service. He served as an infantryman, a helicopter pilot and as a military diplomat. He has served in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, East Timor, Malaysia, Germany, the US and Iraq. For distinguished command and leadership in action in Iraq, Jim was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by the Australian Government and the Legion of Merit by the US Government. In August 2008, General Molan published his book Running the War in Iraq.
Jim is a commentator on security and military issues in the Australian and international print and electronic media and has written regularly for a number of journals and blogs. He is a director of a number of companies and a consultant to Deakin University. As well as being involved in formulating the Coalition’s defence policy while in opposition, Jim was a co-author of the Coalition policy on Border Control. Following the election, Jim was appointed the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Operation Sovereign Borders (the border control operation).
Jim recently participated in an ethical evaluation of Operation Protective Edge (Gaza 2014) with the Friends of Israel Initiative. Jim is a Liberal Party candidate for the Australian Senate.
GUEST SPEAKER: ERIN MOLAN
Erin Molan is a Presenter for the Nine Network; she is co-host of the Logie-award winning NRL Footy Show and was the first full-time female panellist and co-host in the show's 22-year history. She also presents and reports for Channel 9 News, The Sunday NRL Footy Show, is the sideline eye for Channel 9’s Friday Night Football, is the Host of the new reality series ‘The Rookie’ and anchors Channel 9’s Boxing coverage.
Her focus in journalism has always been in sport and news and she has covered both for over 12 years as a television, radio and print reporter. She joined The Footy Show full-time in 2012 as host of Late Mail, before becoming a panellist in 2014.
She is a regular on Sydney and Brisbane radio, including a weekly sports segment on the top rating Amanda and Jonesy, WSFM every Friday morning, and writes weekly columns for the NRL Official Website and Rugby League Week Magazine.
Having been born in Canberra, Erin is a Raiders fan and a very proud ambassador for a number of charities, including Save our Sons, Defence Cares, Bowel Cancer Australia, Ronald MacDonald House and Legacy Australia, to whom she donates her time to support and MC a number of charity events. In 2015, she competed in the gruelling Sydney to Hobart Yacht race, raising over 5 million dollars for the Humpty Dumpty Foundation.
She grew up in Jakarta, and as such plays badminton and has an interest in the Indonesian language. Erin also plays a passable game of netball and touch rugby and owns two racehorses.

GUEST SPEAKER: BENN ROBINSON
We are delighted to have The Waratahs' most capped player and recently retired Wallaby, Benn Robinson, join us to give his insights into the upcoming Bledisloe Cup match.
Growing up in Dural, his early rugby was played at Beecroft Rugby Club followed by The King’s School. ‘Cat’ is just the third Wallaby prop to reach 50 Test matches and announced his retirement earlier this year after sustaining an eye injury in Super Rugby.
Benn was on the Australian Schoolboys team in 2002 and represented the Australian u21s in 2005 before making his debut for the Waratahs and the Wallabies in 2006. He earned 151 Super Rugby caps and scored nine tries for the Waratahs in addition to 72 tests and three tries for the Wallabies.
He was named Australia’s favourite player in 2009, was captain of NSW in 2012 and is currently President of the Rugby Union Players’ Association (RUPA).
