An evening with acclaimed author Chris Simms talking about his novel 'Dark Angel' and reading a preview from his upcoming release
About this event
Chris Simms is the acclaimed author of both the Manchester-based DI Spicer series of psychological thrillers and DC Iona Khan series set in the GMP Counter Terrorism Unit as well as contemporary novel-length ghost stories.
He describes his work as ‘pretty dark, frequently strange and often violent’ but 'dark in a compelling way.'
Chris Simms has worked in airports, nightclubs and telesales centres. He now lives in Marple with his wife, four children and a scruffy little lurcher.
Along with nominations for Theakston's Crime Novel of the Year award and Crime Writers' Association Dagger awards (for both his novels and short stories), Chris was selected by Waterstones as one of their '25 Authors For the Future.'
In Dark Angel, 9th in his popular Spencer series, Simms weaves a tale of something deadly moving through the Manchester night. Bodies of rough sleepers are being found in abandoned buildings and forgotten corners. On the street, rumours circulate of a raven-winged presence that appears and vanishes at will. Searching for a more rational explanation, Detective Jon Spicer is shocked to discover a single black feather at the scene of the latest death.
